I think my cat is a lesbian. Obviously, my brother's boyfriend's horrible lifestyle decisions have rubbed off on her. Think of the example he's setting for kittens! I bet she's shite at Quidditch now, too! I mean, she could probably still play for the Cannons or something, but she'll never start for the Wasps now!
In other news, I'm home. Have been for a few days. Never want to go back to Yemen, no matter how pretty the bridges are.

So, Yemen. Next week. I'm definitely going to come back with a sunburn.
Also, the Ministry picnic thing was a stroke of genius. I went with my brother, of course, because he's a loser and I'm his only family. Well, Kirke and I. And there's only one more thing that's more fun than waterguns in a watergun fight, and that's Aguamenti.
Eloise! I'm coming over for my biscuits. Have you and Vivi had dinner, because I could pick something up on my way! Does she like Indian. You do have her eat exotic things now, right, so she can get a taste for them? Let me know!

So, the map I was trying to decipher? Two weeks later I can say, it's definitely Yemen. Shaharah District, to be precise. Now I just have to do a little more precise work on these runes (which is easier now that I know what ancient languages to be looking at for clues) and I'll know where I'm headed.
Ellie, could not have done it without you! Hope your class liked the stories, too.
Also, anyone want to go sky diving? There's a plan in the works to take a big group. It'll be fun.

I guess being on the goblin's bad list only lasts so long as they don't need me to go off and find things for them. Today on my desk there was a stack of maps and runes to be evaulated and cross-referenced to one another.
Desk work. It reminds me too much of writing neverending feet of parchment at Hogwarts. Still, it's desk work that will lead to field work, eventually, so it's not quite as bad.
It would help if I could figure out if these maps were meant to be bits of Yemen, Oman, or Eritrea. Or there's an off chance it might be Somalia. Definitely need more than just parchment fragments and ancient runic descriptions.
Save me!

I'm not really sure what's worse. My brother trying to pawn me off like an Easter whore to eligible men through these journals, or the fact that no one jumped at the chance.
Ah, well. Won't be the first Easter I've spent without anyone for the parents to grill. Who wants to drink a lot on Sunday night?

Lesson of the Week: When wanting to make sure your brother is alright after his team loses and you're sure he's pouring himself into a bottle of firewhiskey - do make a point to still owl and make sure you should come over.
Far too much naked! I'm generally a fan of naked, but most of this naked was related to me.

Last night in Italy - two weeks combing through catacombs and triggering thousand year old traps that have spent a thousand years protecting nothing but bones and few casks of wine... not exactly the highlight of my career as a cursebreaker. No dragons at all this time. Rather disappointing.
Jack, how's my baby? I'll come and pick her up tomorrow night after I get in and turn in my reports.

Who wants to take me out tonight? I'm leaving for assignment tomorrow, and while staying at an Italian Chateau sounds not like something a Cursebreaker usually gets to do - it also sounds stuffy and remote and like Davies will love it. So one last hurrah before I head off. Dancing, anyone? Or dinner? First come, etc...

As much as I wish them all well and am really happy for them - it's a little scary that so many people my age are getting engaged! I mean, we're there. At that point in our lives! It's terrifying.
Does this mean I have to grow up?

I'm giving up drinking for at least a week. Maybe longer. Maybe until after my next bit of field work. No particular reason - I just think it's time to do some detoxing. Staying home too long just gets a little toxic unhealthy when I don't have much to do. Maybe I'll give up meat for a bit, too.
But that doesn't mean I want to be one of those boring sober vegetarians. Who wants to go out? I think I need a girls' night, if anyone is up for it.

That auction was a blast! I didn't quite win any of the things I was bidding on (except one very fit Quidditch Player, of course), but still I'm glad I was home for it. The date with a famous Quidditch star is definitely just a plus. Kevin, I had a great time!
I was sort of hoping to get some hints about a new field assignment this week, though, and it didn't happen - I just can't sit still this long! Who wants to do something?

I want a puppy. A cute, smooshy faced little puppy that will snuggle up with me and snuffle and snort in his sleep. If I weren't gone so much, and if I wasn't completely sure that my own twin brother would disown me if I tried to leave him with both Bast and a puppy when I leave for work, I'm sure I'd get one.
But I love my brother, and don't want to be murdered by him in my sleep, so I suppose I won't be getting a new pet. Which is probably just as well, because I brought home a stuffed puppy for Bast to play with, and she'd torn it apart at the seams in under an hour.

So, I'm back. Did I miss any crises?
Also, I think those of us who are singletons ought to have a Valentines Day party of our own. Not one of those Anti-Valentines, because those aren't much fun. Just single people sitting around being bitter. But something more fun - where we exchange those little store bought cards you bought in packs in primary school? That would be fun.

Leaving for assignment this afternoon and probably won't be able to write until I'm home. Not sure how long I'll be, but if anyone needs me for something urgent... well, sorry? Contact my brother with it, I guess. He won't be able to reach me, but in most instances he's the next best thing!
Jack, left Bast at your flat this morning. Either you weren't home, or you were asleep. Also left a bag of cat treats for her on your table. Love you!
Also, GO WASPS!!!

A week or so of downtime is great, but there's really nothing like that rush of getting your newest assignment - and realising the bloke you're assigned with does not have a penchant for spending all his time talking about goats.
At least, I hope not.

So, here are the great things about Belgium.
1. The chocolate. Best in the world, really, except when you're in Switzerland... 2. The beer. Westvleteren's been called the best in the world by, like, everyone. But it's not going to beat Stella with a Brit.
Here are the things that aren't great about Belgium: Everything that isn't the chocolate or the beer.
Glad to be home. If anyone wants to get together and do something, I should be around for a few weeks at least before I go on assignment again.
Also, this book is neat! Mum actually got a gift right. The world might be coming to an end.
